1. How does it work?
It’s very clean and simple, and it’s very similar to many crowdfunding systems.
We provide a list of available free agents.
You pick a free agent you’d like to sign with your favorite team.
You decide how much you’ll give this free agent if he signs with the team you choose.
You confirm your pledge through our payment processor Stripe.
(In keeping with best security practices, Stripe handles all the credit card data.)
Stripe puts a hold on the funds until the free agent signs a new contract.
We display the amount of money each player would get if he signs with any particular team.
If the player signs with the team you chose, then Stripe finalizes the payment, and we transfer the money to the player.
If the player signs with a team different from the one you chose, Stripe will immediately release the funds back to you.
2. Isn’t this a bribe?
Nope. It’s just a way for fans to show their appreciation.
3. Are there any processing fees?
Stripe will charge a small fee. Generally it’s 2.9%+ 30 cents.
And in keeping with industry standards, we charge a small processing fee of 5%.
So for each dollar gift Stripe takes about 3 cents, we take about 5 cents, and the player gets about 92 cents.
4. Are there any “rewards” like Kickstarter?
We want to keep our processing fees as low as possible.
We’re considering t-shirts for huge pledges.
